Nearly 200 Mises Institute Supporters, faculty, and staff gathered
in October in Hilton Head, South Carolina, for the 2024 Supporters
Summit. The event brought friends from around the world together
to spend their weekend in fellowship with what Albert Jay Nock,
author of Our Enemy, the State, describes as “the remnant.”
We had a fantastic lineup of speakers and all the presentations were
connected by the same message: government is our common
enemy. Some of our students talked about the role that donors’
support has played in their intellectual development and personal
trajectories.
Our Supporters Summits are a wonderful opportunity to connect
with the individuals who make the work of the Mises Institute
possible. We thank everyone who was a part of this event for their
dedication to our mission.
The recorded lectures can be found at mises.org/SS2024.
ELECTIONS AND THE ECONOMY:
DO THEY REALLY MATTER?
FORT MYERS, FLORIDA Sponsored by Murray and Florence Sabrin
We met in Fort Myers, Florida, in the immediate aftermath of
the presidential election to discuss elections, the economy,
and whether they matter. President Tom DiLorenzo spoke on
the history of elections that changed the ideological tide of
the country, for better or worse. Senior Fellow Mark Thornton
spoke on how voting trends on prohibition are changing.
Walter E. Williams Research Fellow Wanjiru Njoya discussed
the growing backlash against the policies of the progressive
DEI regime. Murray Sabrin illustrated the damage caused by
the uniparty and how the fiscal crisis of runaway spending,
inflation, and regulations is the by-product of decades of
bipartisan cooperation in Washington.
